Who is eligible?TIPD Logo

In order to ensure that the widest possible benefit can be derived from the TIPD activity and to maximise access, the programme is open to:

  • Qualified teachers in schools, who have 2 years post qualified teacher status  (QTS) experience including, their year long induction following award of QTS;
  • Teaching heads of primary schools (where at least 50% of time is spent in the classroom). Please see page 12 for information on international opportunities for non-teaching heads;
  • Teachers not based in schools such as those in Pupil Referral Units;
  • Supply teachers who have been in post for at least one term and where their involvement can be fully justified;
  • Teaching assistants where their involvement can be fully justified in terms of the extent to which they support the teacher in the classroom;
  • Teachers from state maintained nurseries;
  • LA officials where they have a full role in facilitation and dissemination, but limited to one LA official per visit where five or more teachers are participating; and
  • Teachers from independent schools (School-determined strand only).

For the purposes of TIPD funding, academies and specialist schools are included.
