Applying for TIPD
Application criteria
The TIPD Guidance document contains the application
criteria used by each provider to assess all applications
for TIPD. In addition, it contains information on how
headteachers and school governors can support participants to
ensure maximum benefit to the school from participation in a TIPD
study visit.

benefit can be derived from the TIPD activity and to maximise

Provider details
There are four providers of the TIPD programme. In the first
place, schools should contact their local authority about the
opportunities available through each of these providers:
- British Council
- HTI
- League for Exchange of Commonwealth Teachers
- Specialist Schools and Academies Trust

Local Authority support and allocations
Each LA has an allocation of TIPD programme places for each year
(2008-11). They are responsible for managing the programme in your
area and your local TIPD representative should be your first point
of contact for more information before beginning the application
process.
