This category is
designed for schools that are just embarking on
internationalism.
- You assert an intent to build internationalism into the
curriculum.
- You utilise the online framework to record existing
activities.
- You get feedback from us to help you progress to
intermediate level.
- The Global Gateway team helps you to find suitable
international partner schools.

- A proforma statement of intent agreed with
Headteacher and Chairperson of your governing body. The
statement forms a part of the online application for
the Foundation category.
- You can download the
statement of intent and print it for your own
purposes.

- We would expect your school to start using the
Global Gateway partner-finding service.
It is not necessary
to submit any activities, although we are interested in what your
school is doing, so you can fill these in. |
| You can apply anytime for the Foundation category. We will
contact you within 2 weeks of receiving the application to advise
of its progress. |
| Successful applicants will receive a certificate of
achievement from the British Council.
Schools will be able to use the ISA Foundation logo.
Schools applying at this level are
given recognition for international work already undertaken by
the school. Therefore this is a retrospective look at the
school's recent international work.
